A teenaged Julie came to my house with some of her friends to borrow toilet paper to roll someone’s yard. I went to get it, but Mom wouldn’t let her take any.
I’ll never forget how she looked on that day. She was wearing a gray sweatshirt with purple sparkles on the front and her face was fresh pink from the walk down from her house.
Her fair skin still gets flushed like that when she’s excited (or embarrassed) and I still think it’s beautiful. She’s weird and nerdy like me and I can think of nobody I know better or could love more.
